Going with a brushless drive system can help reduce the weight and increase your drive power. This tutorial shows you how I did the brushless drive system in my 3lb beetleweight combat robot, Anxiety Attack. By using a few off-the-shelf components, you can put together a powerful drive system for your next beetle!

I get my 22mm gearboxes from ServoCity. They come in many different ratios:
