DIY Rock Painting Tutorial - Cute Bluebird for Hidden Rock Game

In this DIY Rock Painting Tutorial show you every step of the way for this sweet Bluebird that you can use for the Rock Hiding Game!

For this fun project I used a local river stone that is 2.5 x 2" and then poured a dirty cup of blue and white, and second cup with iridescent orange/yellow fluid acrylic paints to make the body of a lovely little bluebird. After the rock was dried over night I then put in the final details with a paint brush and some regular acrylic paint.

I hope this project brings you smiles and some relaxing time creating a fun project to share!

Put your cup on the scale press the button to set the scale to zero and follow the measurements as you add each item to a cup for each color.

2 parts Liquitex Pouring Medium, 2 parts Floetrol to 1 part Paint.
I used:
10 grams Liquitex Pouring Medium, 10 grams Flood Floetrol and
5 grams paint NO water.

Artist Loft Flow - White 20 gms Floetrol:5 gms Paint

Sax True Flow - Mars Black to paint the bottom of the Rock Black

To paint the details: Artist Loft Mars Black, Brilliant Yellow, and Flow White
#2 round Ruby Satin by Silver Brush

You can experiment with any pouring mediums--just do them proportionally small batches until you are confident that your combinations will work.

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of heating the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from. I'm also concerned with the possible issues down the line with the paint not forming a good bond with the surface because of the oils preventing proper adhesion.

We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful, but there can be consequences we don't know about yet. As with any thing in life be informed by reputable sources and your own common sense. :)

The most important things you need to be successful with any of my creative projects are the willingness to learn and to be easy on yourself as you are learning. We tend to be our worst critics and we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.
