INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING THE CUSHION CASE
Place both pieces of fabric E right sides together. Place your zipper on top of the fabric and centre it along one of the longer edges as best as you can. Use a pen and mark on the fabric where the upper and lower stoppers are of the zipper.
Remove the zipper and pin along that long edge that you have just marked. Stitch the two Fabric E pieces together using a 1 inch seam. Start by stitching up to the 1st mark using a stitch length of 2.5 and backstitch when you get to the 1st mark, don’t cut the thread. Continue stitching from the 1st mark to the 2nd mark changing the thread length to your longest stitch, ours was 5.0. Then backstitch again when you get to your 2nd mark, do not cut the thread. Change your thread length back to 2.5 and continue stitching the rest of the way. (We are going to unpick the stitching in the middle later on).
Open the seam and iron flat.
Place your zipper wrong side up, on the wrong side of both Fabric E pieces. Centre the zipper on the seam (you will know where to place it because you should still be able to see the two little pen markings you made earlier. Make sure the upper and lower stoppers of the zipper are in line with these two markings). The centre of the zipper should be exactly on top of the centre of the seam. Tape down.
Stitch the zipper to the fabric. Stitch from the back (the side that the zipper is on) so you can see where you are stitching. Make sure your top thread and bobbin thread are the same colour as your fabric. You will have to adjust the zipper pull whenever the machine foot gets close to it. Below is a diagram of how to stitch the zipper to the fabric.

Remove the tape.

Unpick the stitching (from the right side) that is directly opposite the zipper. This will allow you to get access to the zipper.

NOW TO ATTACH THE LINING TO THE BACK OF THE CUSHION:
With the back of our cushion right side up, fold in half so the right sides are together. Put aside.

Get one of your Fabric F pieces (back lining) and place it on your work space right side up.

Grab the back of the cushion (which is now folded in half) and place it on top of Fabric F. Line up the long raw edge of Fabric F with one edge of the middle seam on the back of the pillow.

Pin in place and stitch together with about a ½” seam (Make sure your stitching is catching the edge of the zipper)

Once sewn, fold over the Fabric F to make sure it has caught the edge of the zipper.

Repeat the above steps for the second Fabric F piece. You should now have lining on both sides of the zipper.

Give the back of the cushion a good iron.
NOW TO ATTACH THE BACK OF THE CUSHION AND THE FRONT LINING TO THE FRONT OF THE CUSHION:
Place the front of your cushion right side up on your workspace.

Place the back of your cushion on top of the front of the cushion, right sides together (the right side of the back lining should be facing up). Try and centre the zipper as best as you can. Open up your zipper.

Pin together and sew together right around from the front of the cushion. Follow the basting stitch that your previously stitched on the front.

Unpin and trim the excess fabric from the back so it is the exact same shape as the front.
Place Fabric G (front lining) wrong side up on top of the back of the cushion (the right sides of Fabric F & G are together)

Pin together leaving an 8 inch gap for turning through later.

Stitch together from the front of the cushion with a half inch seam – make sure you leave the gap for turning through later.
Trim Fabric G so it is the exact same shape as the rest of the cushion. Leave a little extra fabric at the opening. You may also clip the corners for more pointed ones when turned.

Turn the cushion out through the opening (it will still be the wrong side out)
Push out all of the corners using a pointy implement.
Iron the cushion.
Hand stitch or glue the opening closed.
Turn the cushion out the right way through the zipper.
Push out all of the corners using a pointy implement.
Iron.
Insert a cushion insert or stuff with stuffing.
