In this tutorial I will teach you how to add a beaded looped edging to your cross stitch finishes. We will cover bead choice, type, and size, as well as needle and thread used, as well as the actual method (beginning at 4:07)

You can see Brenda's beautiful finish of Annie Morris on her instagram account @brendasamplerstitcher

For a 2mm round, the recipe is 3 beads per 3/8" (measuring from the exterior edge). For reference, I used 168 beads to edge Seasons of the Heart: Spring on 38 count with a 1/2" margin from the edge of the design. On this piece that meant 72 beads on one long side and 48 on one short side.
The red 2mm crystal rounds seen on the Christmas ornament are old backstock and no longer available.
For larger beads you will need to experiment with the spacing between loops, the 3/8" is specific to a 2mm round and also my personal preference on how far to space the loops

If you are new to beads and need a primer on types and kinds of beads, see the beginning of my beaded spiral rope trim tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgQMzVs3wPk&t=134s

2mm rounds can be purchased in quantity at Fire Mountain Gems: https://www.firemountaingems.com/shop/crystal_passions-2mm_stringing_length-5000_brand_shape
2mm crystal golden shadow as used in this tutorial: https://www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/h20a9329cy
The color Light Colorado Topaz is almost identical to Crystal Golden Shadow and both work excellently with my favorite Legacy Linens 38 count Fuller's Teazel and Brewer's Malt
They also carry 3mm crystal rounds: https://www.firemountaingems.com/shop/crystal_passions-3mm_stringing_length-5000_brand_shape

And a variety of gemstone beads, both spherical and faceted: https://www.firemountaingems.com/shop/gemstone-beads?navsrc=top_1_GemstoneBeads
I showed 2mm faceted champagne cubic zirconia (not peach moonstone, I forgot which one I purchased): https://www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/h203744fb
And 3mm round garnets: https://www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/h203648gs

Fire Mountain Gems also sells nylon beading thread: https://www.firemountaingems.com/shop/nylon-thread?navsrc=top_2_NylonThread
I recommend Nymo 0 or 00 or C-Lon A or AA. They're the same thing, just two different brands
And needles: https://www.firemountaingems.com/shop/needles

Kinkame silk sewing thread, 50 weight, can be purchased from Britex: https://www.britexfabrics.com/notions/thread.html?thread_weight=2801
I used color 93 here, which is an excellent warm neutral that goes with many tan colored linens

And #10 milliner's needles and some beading needles can be purchased from Needle in a Haystack (as well as the linen and threads I used on Spring, conversion can be found in the description for Flosstube 21: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3JAkZDjygo):

As can a marking pencil (scroll down to category Marking, Transfer Supplies, and Glue):

The Bohin pencil comes with white lead so you likely need other colors as well.

I also can't recommend strongly enough that you block your stitching before finishing. It improves the final result but in this instance, makes it much easier to do your edging stitches as you can just follow the blocked weave. My tutorial on blocking can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdvdEkuXSls&t=841s
