During a bathroom renovation, I discovered, after ripping out the tile floor, that most of the screw heads securing the cement board were filled with thin-set making it difficult if not impossible to remove them using my driver. Adding to the problem was that some were phillips head while most were square drive heads. My solution was to use a pair of pliers to remove them, after trying to use a multitool to cut them off and considering other things like an abrasive disc or even my reciprocating saw. Sometimes the simplest tool can get the job done better than something else.
