王建中 Wang Jianzhong (1933–2016), was a revered figure in China, renowned as a composer, pianist, and educator. His compositions, often created amidst the Cultural Revolution, artfully blend elements of Chinese folk music with the classical piano tradition of the West, cementing his status as a household name within his homeland. Among his notable works, "A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix" stands out as one of the six distinguished Chinese piano masterpieces of the twentieth century.
